Today we went through what our book calls "o
ne of the most beautiful places in the world." It was pretty amazing. We drove from Albuquerque, NM to
Holbrook, AZ. Instead of driving straight across on I-40 we decided to go about a hour out of our way through the Indian Reservations and mountains. It was breath-taking!

then we cut off onto Route 53 into the mountains...

Once at the top Zoe got out and jumped right into the snow...

Adam loved it also. We had planned on seeing
Bandera Volcano and the Ice Caves, but there was too much snow for us to go on the trails with Adam. So we played in the snow instead.

We crossed the continental divide...pretty cool!

Mark and I couldn't believe we saw an ELK CROSSING sign!

Next it was onto the Painted Desert and
Petrified forest in Arizona. Everyone should do this once in their life. It was BEAUTIFUL!

Oscar loved it too!

There is a piece of old Route 66 in the park, and all that is left are the electric poles, a car, and a plaque.
Here are some rocks that have ancient carvings on them. It was really amazing!

Look at all the colors in these rocks!

The logs are hard as rock. Just
scattered among the rocks.
A lot of them, you can go right up to and touch them.

This was a day we will never forget!
